1970 – 2025
Over 117,000 Catfish caught on Tuttle Creek and Milford Lake!
It was a different time. Both lakes have changed through the years. Tuttle Creek’s north end doesn’t exist anymore. The silt has ruined the current lines and now we have nothing but water running over a flat. The numbers are still good but not what they were back then. We still have plenty of fish and now we have the big Bluecat which we didn’t have 30 years ago. We need to realize that the world has changed! Since 1970 50 % of all fish everywhere around the globe are gone. Population and pollution are the problem. We can’t change some things in life so we enjoy what we can and go fishing. One thing we do need is rain! We need to get on a wet cycle because Water means better fishing, coming in and going out. You’ll catch 3 times as many fish on a wet cycle. My better years is when 16,000 was the out flow at tubes.
I’m an old guy now, wasn’t old until 75. In the past 2 years the body is absolutely wearing out due to the clock. Can’t catch 15 to 25 fish everyday like I did for 35 years. Time to slow down and enjoy what time is left. Just finished another shoulder surgery and should be ready for 2025. Can’t Bitch, happy to be alive and ready for some great fishing down the road.

35 lb. Channel caught at tubes 2013. Almost as long as the cleaning station.
This fish was caught on grasshoppers, # 2 worm hook, no weight in current. Before they started spraying for mosquitoes, I could grab grasshoppers next to the road at tubes. Not today! It also has killed most of the worms in the river pond.
It was common in the 70’s to catch five 40 to 60 lb. flatheads in one morning at the tubes. The lake was full of them.
Back in the 90’s myself and 2 guys from Caterpillar went fishing on Tuttle and caught 87 channels 6 to 15 lbs. A Memory still talked about today!
No one knows how our journey will end. What I do know is so far life has been as good as anyone could ever ask for. Who knows why we go down one road or another. All I know is I got lucky and picked the right road. For those of you who know me, I’ve lived a remarkable life. I’ve spent thousands of hours on the water and there’s not a better place to be. Let’s hope that the last part of this journey I will be on the water or at the tubes fishing.
For those of you that are younger and enjoy fishing, I will assure you that you need a little luck to make it this far in life, so don’t waste too much time thinking about fishing, get your butt up and do it! The clock is a ticking!

We’ve been on a dry cycle for a number of Years. We did have some rain in 2022 and this is what happens with a wet year. We catch more fish with the water coming on the north end of the lake and a lot more fish with water coming out of the tubes. We are past due for some wet weather.
