Fancy Creek Marina Boat Ramp

When the lake level gets to 1085, you can access the Fancy Creek boat ramp and enter fancy creek and then to the river.  The river ramp will be under water at 1085.  At the mouth of fancy creek where the white dot is, you can anchor your boat and the current line runs along that bank.  Plus, when fancy creek is running and collides with the river it makes for good fishing.  There is a drainage cut where the yellow dot is and the area where the small yellow dots are drains out into the river.  It drains from 1080 to 1078 when the lake drops.  Ideal for kayaks!  The black dot is the top of the old channel and there’s a tree line that runs all the way across the river. (Stumps under water everywhere).  The orange dot is another cut that empties into the river channel when the river drops from 1083 to 1081.  The purple dot indicates a deep hole of 37 feet.  The light blue dot is where the river will jump the bank at 1084 and half of the current water will head down the east side of the lake. That’s another story to tell.  When the river runs and the lake is high, fish the bank drop offs, as the fish tend to run the ledge as they head up river.  When the river is rising, fish close to bank.  When the river is dropping, fish the middle of the river as the fish are leaving the river and heading downstream to the lake.  The higher the lake, the further up river they go.  Sometime down the road the rains will return and the north end of the lake and the river will offer some fantastic fishing.  In my life time I’ve caught over 40,000 fish in this area.  The big blues also head up the river when the current arrives.   When the water is warm, we have to deal with more gar every year.  When the river runs water, it’s muddy and most of your bites will be catfish.  Plus, it eliminates drum if it’s muddy.  There will be a problem with trash coming down the river so when it rains the trash will come first and the clean water will arrive later.   If you have a trash line coming down the river, fish off to the edge, it’s a food source.  Fishing down below the mile bridge is another story, it also offers some great fishing.
